15th Festival Dantesco

Testo in italiano

From April 1 to 7, 2025, the 15th edition of the Festival Dantesco will take place; an event conceived and organized by Xenia, which aims to foster the intersection of performing arts and Dante’s works.

Split between Rome, Bastia Umbra, Lugano, and Naples, the Festival will feature performances, exhibitions, film screenings, literary talks, and social media segments.

The Festival will also see the return of its well-established competitions for young talents:

  • the School Competition, for students of all ages, from 3 to 20 years old;
  • the University Competition, for artists aged 21 to 30 affiliated with Universities and Academies.

Participants can submit Dante-inspired works in the following categories: Theater (short plays), Cinema (short films), Photography (a single photo or a portfolio of up to 5 photos).

“We are thrilled that once again this year”, says Artistic Director Paolo Pasquini, “the Festival’s closing day will be held at Teatro Palladium in Rome, the theater of Roma Tre University, an institution with which our collaboration continues to grow year after year”.

The eagerly awaited awards ceremony for the competition winners will take place at Teatro Palladium in Rome on Monday, April 7. Submissions are open until March 10. Competition guidelines and details are available on the Festival’s website.

Since its first edition, the Festival has been sponsored by the Società Dante Alighieri and has enjoyed the support of various institutions, including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Culture and Education, the Accademia della Crusca, the Dante 2021 Committee, the Lazio and Tuscany Regions, the City of Rome and numerous other public and private organizations.

Notable contributors over the years include Pupi Avati, Isabella Ferrari, Giulio Ferroni, David Riondino, Isabel Russinova, and Luca Serianni, among others.

Since 2019, the Roma Tre Teatro Palladium Foundation, the Department of Humanities, and the Department of Philosophy, Communication, and Performing Arts at Roma Tre University have supported and hosted the Festival’s closing evenings.

As a testament to this partnership with the Roman university, the scientific responsibility for all Festival initiatives has been entrusted to Maurizio Fiorilla, Professor of Philology and Dante Criticism at Roma Tre.

Video highlights of the Festival’s activities can be found on its YouTube channel, which surpassed 100,000 views in 2024.
